What is a sourdough class?
This is a class to teach you about the unique skills it takes to make a basic sourdough loaf of bread as well as how to care for your starter. We will touch on the benefits of sourdough and why it is good for your gut health.
Who is the class meant for?

This class is for anyone who is interested in learning the basics of baking sourdough.
What will you learn?

You will learn the fundamentals of caring for a sourdough starter. As well as how to mix and bake your classic sourdough loaf.
When will class be held?

This class will take place the first Wednesday of November just in time for you to master the technique and make a beautiful loaf for Thanksgiving! If we fill up the initial class, another will be set up.
What will you need to bring?

Nothing!!
What will you bring home?

This class will provide you with the unique things that you may not have in your kitchen such as a sourdough starter, a sourdough wisk, banaton basket, flour to care for your starter for the first few days you have it at home, recipes, and notes on what the class was all about. There will be lots of sourdough goodies to taste and sample!
What do you need at home to use your new skills?

You will need to make sure your kitchen has a large mixing bowl - preferably glass or stainless steel, but plastic will work if need be. You
will need a Dutch oven, kitchen scraper, a wooden spoon, parchment paper, and a kitchen scale. If you don’t have a kitchen scale Walmart in Little Falls carries a basic one for about $12.00.

This class is going to be upbeat , hands on and very fun. You will get your fingers dirty learning to do stretch and folds as well as shaping your loaf. Come hungry because you will want to taste the goodness! This class will teach the basics but sourdough is more than just bread, it can be bagels, crackers, muffins and even tortillas shells! So start small and come learn what might be your newest hobby!

Step-by-Step Guidance: We will walk through each step of the sourdough-making process together. From creating the perfect starter to the final bake, you'll have support every step of the way.
Troubleshooting Tips: Baking can sometimes lead to unexpected results. We’ll discuss common issues you might encounter, such as dough that’s too sticky or a loaf that doesn’t rise, and how to resolve them effectively.

Hi! My name is Daniela, and I'm excited to introduce you to the fascinating world of sourdough. Having grown up in Little Falls, I'm thrilled to be teaching at the very school from which I graduated.

My journey into sourdough baking began in November of 2023. I was looking for a healthier bread option and needed to provide a "safe" bread for my 7-year-old son, who has a severe dairy allergy. What started as a simple hobby quickly evolved, and now I bake regularly for
local farmers markets, my neighbors, and my farm stand.

As a stay-at-home mom of two energetic boys, ages 7 and 3, I find joy in involving them in the bread-making process. They love helping me prep the dough, and one of their favorite pretend games is "mixing spurdhough" in the sandbox.

I also run a small farm stand just north of town, where I sell fresh produce, canned goods, and a variety of sourdough treats. I look forward to sharing more about my sourdough journey and helping you embark on your own. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned baker, there's always something new to discover in the world of sourdough.
