Let’s pop into winter with a tasty twist! In this fun and hands-on Culinary STEM class, we’ll explore the science behind one of your favorite snacks—popcorn! Learn about what makes those kernels pop, then mix up your own snowy, sweet, and winter-themed popcorn treat. We'll craft, cook, snack, and learn all about Popcorn Chemistry along the way. It’s science you can eat—what could be better?

Char Bzdok

Lead Instructor

Charlene Bzdok is a licensed educator with over 25 years of experience teaching science in a classroom setting. During her career, she’s taught a diverse selection of topics—including biology, math, chemistry, entomology, bird ecology, life science, physics, and more. In addition to her work in classrooms across Minnesota—working with students from different cultures and backgrounds—she’s also taught abroad in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Today, she organizes a range of community education courses to help students across over 30 school districts discover the basic principles of science, technology, physics, and of course baking and cake pop decoration.
