Parenting the School-Age Child: Tools for a Smoother Family Life
This four-week series supports parents of elementary-age children with practical tools for navigating this busy, curious, often complex stage of development. Each session blends child-development insights with down-to-earth strategies to help families build more cooperation, confidence, and connection at home.
Week 1 – Developmental Milestones & Social/Emotional Growth
We’ll explore what’s typical for school-age kids—how they think, learn, socialize, and manage emotions. Parents will gain a clearer picture of what children need at this stage and how to support healthy growth.
Week 2 – Handling Conflicts, Sibling Challenges & Peer Issues
From squabbles at home to tricky dynamics at school, conflicts are part of growing up. This session offers practical ways to guide problem-solving, reduce sibling tension, and help kids navigate friendships with more resilience.
Week 3 – Motivation, Responsibility & Independence Skills
Parents will learn how to foster motivation without nagging, build responsibility through routines, and encourage age-appropriate independence. We’ll cover tools that make chores, homework, and follow-through feel more manageable for everyone.
Week 4 – Strengthening Family Communication & Connection
We’ll wrap up with strategies for building stronger family bonds through positive communication, collaborative problem-solving, and meaningful rituals. Parents will leave with a clearer plan for keeping relationships strong through the school-age years and beyond.
