Lifeguard Certification & Recertification

This class will provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies in a pool. This course will have an online component that will need to be completed BEFORE the first in-person training date. The online portion will take approximately 7 hours to complete. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a 2 year American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid. You must attend ALL sessions and complete the entire course to receive certification.
Attendance is mandatory at all times. Times are subject to change.

Prerequisites:

1. Must be 15 years of age by class completion (valid form of identification is required).
2. Swim 300 yards of Crawl stroke or Breaststroke or a combination of those two strokes to complete the 300 yards.
3. Time swim of 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive in depth of 9 feet, retrieve a 10lbs object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to starting point.
4. Must be able to tread water without use of arms for 2 minutes.
5. Blended learning will require work to be done before the course begins. Instructions will be emailed directly to participants. Please include a valid e-mail address when setting up your online account.

WSI Safety Instructor

Earn your certification to teach American Red Cross swimming and water safety, and gain the skills needed to teach courses and make presentations to swimmers of every age and ability. Through our Aquatic Instructor Training program, you can help recreational swimmers meet their goals, refine their skills and stay safe in, on, and around water.

The Water Safety Instructor, also known as WSI™, course trains instructor candidates to teach all of the courses presented in the Swimming and Water Safety program to all age groups;  this course trains instructor candidates to teach the fundamental Learn-to-swim courses including Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim Levels 1-6, Adult Swim and private swimming lessons (for the courses listed). 

During our swim instructor certification training courses you'll learn how to help individuals enjoy their time in the water safely – and in a wide range of ways. This certification is the gold standard and provides the most comprehensive training for swim instructors.
